Description
We are offering a group of Lucky Penny Pocket Pieces. There are 6 pocket pieces with pennies in the center dating from 1943 to 1966; and one pocket piece that DOES NOT HAVE A PENNY IN IT, but we believe this "pocket piece" (Torrey and Baker Clothier) may be from around 1901.1.)
"I am Your Mascot. Buy Your Clothing of Torrey and Baker. Rockland, Mass."
Written on the other side is "Lucky Penny Pocket Piece. I Bring Good Luck".
THIS POCKET PIECE HAS NO PENNY IN IT, and we believe it may be from around 1901. F. O. Baker was the manager for O.H. Ellis Clothier in Rockland, Mass. in the early 1890's. In 1896, Ellis sold his business to Baker and Baker's partner, William Torrey. Torrey took ill in 1902, leaving Baker as the sole proprietor. We assume this "pocket piece" is from before 1902 (when Torrey was no longer a partner), probably 1901.
