Antique Middle Franconia Bavaria Embroidered Beaded Headdress Bonnet

Description

Traditional women's headdress / bonnet from the Middle Franconia area of Bavaria, Germany.
Stiff crown covered in black silk, encircled with silk & velvet ribbon edged in jet beads. Back of brown gathered silk, beaded edging, with richly embroidered center accented with gold beaded sequins.
4 silk damask ribbons at back--2 of those ribbons are draped & attach back to bonnet; the other 2 are meant to hang loosely, but only one is completely intact--it ends in brown velvet ribbon &black beading.
2 front/side ribbons are joined with stitching & accented with decorative button.
Bonnet is lined with gingham.
Hand stitching is visible.
Measures approx. 10.5" around inside edge of bonnet. Back measures approx. 4.75" top to bottom and 5.25" left to right.
Lovely antique item shows some signs age & use. One long ribbon is only partially intact. Occasional loose threads & worn edging. Lining is worn through at bottom of bonnet.
